Mafia 3, the sequel to the well-received franchise, has been confirmed to be in development by Hangar 13 and slated to arrive sometime next year. But fans might be able to get their hands on the new title sooner than expected and experience the fun in April 2016 slightly ahead of Battleborn release date.
Based on GameStop's current listing on its official site, Mafia 3 exact release date is slated on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. This piece of information might be quite a surprise to majority of fans as Fall 2016 launching at the earliest is seen to be more plausible for the game to officially hit the shelves. However, if this date is accurate, the next entry to the Mafia series will arrive ahead of Battleborn which is announced to drop on May 3.
Meanwhile, as 2015 comes to a close, gamers have already drawn tons of speculations of what to look forward to in the new game next year. In a Q&A with creative director Haden Blackman, he has cleared some of these as well as addressed several questions, teasing the new features to likely please players upon launch.
As reported by Game Informer, here's the roundup of the top things revealed during Q&A session with Blackman:
- There will be a tutorial for the game, but don't expect it to take place in Vietnam like the World War 2 section of Mafia 2. The focus for the new tutorial is to introduce the player to New Orleans and the new characters.
- The time span for the game will be around nine months, and while there will be weather changes don't expect anything like snow. Most weather effects will come in the form of rain and how vehicles handle during that time.
- There will be a possibility of more reunions in Mafia 3 though this cannot be confirmed or denied at this time.
- Storylines from the second game will be featured up to a point, like what happened to Joe.
- There will be collectibles in the game, much like the Playboy magazines from the second game. There will be a greater variety of these in Mafia 3.
- The question of torture was raised, and this may be used in the interrogation scenes for the game. There will be celebration of this method of information retrieval though, especially if it turns violent.
- As with other open world games, side missions can be completed after the main story is complete.
Set for publishing by 2K Games, Mafia 3 is an open world third-person action adventure video game developed by Hangar 13. It is set to hit Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms within Take-Two's fiscal year 2017 or simply put, sometime in 2016.
