Next year, the full second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be launched on Netflix. As fans wait for the premiere, new details have been shared by creator Tina Fey revealing the changes in store for Ellie Kemper’s Kimmy. Meanwhile, Pitch Perfect actress Anna Camp and Girls star Zosia Mamet have nabbed guest arcs in the new season.
The second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will find Kimmy dealing with her real feelings while also pushing herself to brave her new world.
Tina Fey previewed in a report from ET Canada that Kimmy starts to realize that she’s been putting on a brave face for so long, parallel to what happens in real life. However, things will come to a head down the road and she’s gonna have to deal with them on a deeper level.
Fey adds: “I think she will start to do that. Again, somehow still in the form of comedy."
In a report from Pop Sugar, Fey revealed additional scoops fans can expect including: the bunker-setting will be further explored, Kimmy’s love interest, Dong, will be back. And lastly, a Christmas-themed episode is abound.
The bunker storyline opens the possibility for the reappearances of Jon Hamm’s Ricahrd Wayne Gary Wayne and Kimmy’s bunkmates like Sara Chase. To see Kimmy and Dong together in season two is also another factor fans will be thrilled about. So far, these teasing spoilers sound like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is going to return with stronger and even funnier episodes.
As for the show’s casting news, Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) and Zosia Mamet (Girls) have booked guest starring roles in the new season.
Although details on Camp’s role are still under wraps, there had been speculations that she could be playing Jane Krakowski’s sister. Intel on Mamet’s character are also yet to be determined.
Additionally, viewers should also expect for Tina Fey to make another cameo in Kimmy’s world next year. Per Daily Mail, she has filmed a drunken scene with lead star Ellie Kemper in one scene set in New York City.
The complete second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will air sometime in 2016.
