'Suicide Squad' is an upcoming superhero film directed by David Ayer. It is scheduled to be released on August 2016 and will be rated PG-13. A new featurette on Joker's Jokermobile revealed that the car is an Infiniti G35 customized for only $60,000.
According to Comic Book Resources, a new featurette showing Joker's plush purple ride revealed that it wasn't a multi-million Lamborghini but instead was a budget sports car - an Infiniti G35. Jeremy MacEntagart, the Jokermobile's creator and owner of a company that builds custom car frames, said that it took him $60,000 to customize the Infiniti into a vehicle worth of the big-screen. He told Fox 13 News, "I wanted something different. I'm a fan of a supercar look... So, I wanted aggressive, angry - low to the ground."
The Vaydor, as it is called by MacEtagart, is seen driven by Jared Leto's Joker in the film's official trailer. According to Digital Trends, several unofficial fan-captured footage also showed Batman riding on top of the car as it sped around the Toronto filming set for one specific scene. MacEntagart said that as soon as filmmakers approached him for the project, he immediately said yes and was thrilled at the prospect of making a luxury custom for a cinematic release.
The new superhero film is based on the DC comic book anti-heroes of the same name. It is considered the third installment in the DC shared universe that includes 2013's 'Man of Steel' and 2016's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'. It is directed and written for the big-screen by David Ayer who worked on films such as 'S.W.A.T.', 'Sabotage' and 'Fury'.
With its themes of violence, corruption, and glorification of crime, one would think that 'Suicide Squad' will get a possible R-rating. However, according to the A.V. Club, the upcoming film will be rated PG-13. Producer Charles Roven said, "Right there on the edge of PG-13, but still PG-13... We really want to make [The DC Cinematic Universe] tonally consistent ... because this is a shared universe."
The group of anti-heroes, known as Task Force X in the DC comic books, first debuted in 'The Brave and the Bold #25' published in 1959. They were presented as a team of incarcerated inmates and death row supervillains recruited by a covert U.S. agency to take on black ops missions in exchange for pardon.
'Suicide Squad' stars an ensemble cast made up of Leto as Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Jay Hernandez as Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It is scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 5, 2016.
