‘Bedeviled’ Compared to Spike Jonze’s ‘Her’, Stephen King’s ‘It’; Abel and Burlee Vang Collaborate For New Horror Flick

'Bedeviled' is a planned horror film to be directed by award-winning screenwriters Abel and Burlee Vang. They won the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting for their contribution to 'The Tiger's Child'. Their new film is considered a cross between Spike Jonze's 'Her' and Stephen King's 'It'.

According to Deadline, Abel and Burlee Vang will collaborate on an upcoming horror film that is said to be a cross between Spike Jonze's 'Her' and Stephen King's 'It'. The two won the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in 2011 for their screenplay of 'The Tiger's Child'. The Vang brothers created a science-fiction short entitled 'Sentient' to earn them enough to fund the new film.

Their award-winning screenplay from 'The Tiger's Child' told the story of a young boy whose father was killed after joining the CIA's Secret Army in Laos. The drama is now in development. according to Fresno Filmworks.

Abel Vang, a graduate of the USC Film School, revealed that their new villain will be unlike the antagonists in past horror films. He said, "The supernatural villains of today aren't charismatic enough. They're just killing machines. We created a character like Hannibal Lector and The Joker, but in a supernatural film. We're reinventing the bogeyman with this app." The so-called app will be one of the key elements in the 'Bedeviled' film.

Cast members for the upcoming film have already been chosen. Saxon Sharbino of Fox's 'Poltergeist', Brandon Soo Hoo of 'From Dusk 'Til Dawn' and Alexis G. Zall of 'Ouija 2' will play teenagers caught up in the supernatural events centered on a mysterious killer app.

Sharbino will play a young girl who downloads the app that will then go on to haunt her, according to Latin Post. Zall will also be one of the first victims of the wicked download.

Rob Hall, episode director and special effects artist for MTV's 'Teen Wolf', will be co-executive producing the upcoming film together with Fuabkuan Yang, Stephen Stanley and Brad Brizendine and Kirk Ross. Ross is the Badlands Features producer behind indie films 'The Brass Teapot', 'High Road' and 'A Better You'.

'Bedeviled' is an upcoming horror film directed by award-winning scribes Abel and Burlee Vang. It is not to be confused for the 2010 Korean horror film starring Seo Young-hee and Ji Sung-won.
