'Divergent: Ascendant' is scheduled to be released in March 2017 as the second part of the last film in the cinematic trilogy. It may feature a young Natalie Prior as well as a young Tobias 'Four' Eaton. Author Veronica Roth expressed her excitement over the last two films.
The second part of 'Divergent: Allegiant', otherwise known as 'Divergent: Ascendant', is scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2017. According to Parent Herald, several speculations regarding the upcoming film's plot have emerged including some that point to Four's childhood as well as a glimpse of the young Natalie Prior, Tris' mother.
Several actors have returned to reprise their roles in the cinematic series of Veronica Roth's popular young adult novels. Shailene Woodley and Theo James will return as main protagonists Beatrice 'Tris' Prior and Tobias 'Four' Eaton respectively. Joining them will be Zoe Kravitz as Cristina, Naomi Watts as Evelyn Johnson-Eaton, Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior, Jeff Daniels as David and Nadia Hilker as Nita.
According to E! Online, Roth's final book in the trilogy will be the basis of the two-part concluding film in the live-action adaptations. The last film following 'The Divergent Series: Insurgent' has been split into two parts - part one being 'Divergent: Allegiant' and part two being 'Divergent: Ascendant'.
Each of the films' logos has been released as well as their respective taglines. Part one says, "Break the boundaries of your world." while part two says, "The end is never what you expect." Roth explained the two titles on her Tumblr saying, "Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes, but it's really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them. I know changes always make fans of the books - and the author! - nervous, but hopefully the characters we know (and love. Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing... I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys."
The first film in the back-to-back installment recently revealed its official trailer online on November 13 in time for its scheduled release date on March 18, 2016. According to The Movie Network, the trailer showed Tris, Four and their companions leaving behind the walls of Chicago to see what lies beyond. They soon stumble on a new array of enemies and obstacles.
