Despite of unofficial sales data, publishers Square Enix and Microsoft are very happy" with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Released on November 10, the game has a stiff competition with Fallout 4 and StarCraft II.
Techno Buffalo reported Brian Horton's recently released statement about the current situation of the game. The Tomb Raider's director said that Square Enix and Microsoft are indeed "very happy with Rise and the dev team."
Having the same release date with Fallout 4, some reports indicated that Rise of the Tomb Raider didn't do well at retail. Other sources believe that the retail performance of the game following its release was disappointing but Microsoft knew that the game can definitely stand on its own.
VG247 also added that both publishers are looking forward to the ceremony on The Game Awards where Rise of the Tomb Raider has been nominated for an award. The said Game Awards show will take place on Thursday, December 3.
The report mentioned Horton's additional statement which says "The dev team is not responsible for sales and therefore we look to reviews and releasing on time to gauge our performance. We accomplished these goals. The press considers Rise of the Tomb Raider a high quality game based on the scores."
Horton is proud of everyone who's part of the game development, said Destructoid. The game director thanked Crystal and Eidos Montreal for making this game possible and he also showed appreciation for the overwhelming feedback and positive reviews.
While the official sales data for the game is still not made known to the public, the current numbers being unofficially shared around suggest that Rise of the Tomb Raider is selling incredibly poorly at the present.
Regardless of different receptions to the game, some fans remain loyal to Rise of the Tomb Raider. Alonng with Square Enix and Microsoft, many gamers are happy with the game.
