‘Downton Abbey’ News: Actor Jim Carter wants “raunchy” film; Michelle Dockery felt “sick” shooting the series finale

'Downton Abbey' actor Jim Carter wished that the planned big-screen adaptation would be set around his character Carson the butler in a "raunchy" new twist. Actress Michelle Dockery revealed that she felt "sick" during the filming of final scenes for the television show's concluding episode.

According to the Mirror, Jim Carter was eager to see his character Carson the butler in a more adult-oriented live-action adaptation. He admitted, "For the film I think Mr. Carson should invent poll dancing really... I think the public are ready for that. We would have Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Patmore of course, and Lady Cora would shake a leg and I think it'd be very popular." Carter revealed that he already pitched his ideas to the television show's creator Julian Fellowes.

Carter, who plays the stiff and snobbish butler Charlie Carson in the long-running show, said that he would much like to see a film centered on his character in Soho in the 1960's. Carson would be running a series of strip joints and adult clubs.

The 67-year old English actor also admitted to feeling pangs of melancholy after realizing that their period drama has finally come to its concluding episode to be aired this month. He said, "It is quite moving actually, not just saying goodbye to Downton, but saying goodbye to all the crew and everything - it took me by surprise how moved I was."

Actress Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Talbot in the series, also expressed her overwhelming emotion with the show's end. According to the Telegraph, she revealed that she felt "sick" and that it was "terribly emotional" during filming of the final scenes for the television series' concluding episode. However, when asked at a chance to stay involved for a possible 'Downton Abbey' movie, she exclaimed, "I'd of course jump at the chance. It's not something that's been discussed with anyone, as far as I know, but I'd imagine it would take very little for everyone to get involved."

Meanwhile, Lesley Nicol hinted that a big-screen adaptation would be doable even though Fellowes is "too busy" to write a script as of the moment. According to OK! Magazine, she said, "It would be tough getting everyone together for another season but it isn't hard for a film because you are not all in the same bits... So it should be OK." Nicol plays Beryl Patmore in the television series.

It was previously reported that Fellowes and executive producer Gareth Neame announced that the planned film is still in very early stages. Although no further details have been announced, they admitted that they are open to the possibility of an actual silver screen adaptation.

'Downton Abbey' is a planned full-feature film based on the long-running television series of the same name. The multi-award winning television show was created by Julian Fellowes and first aired on ITV in the U.K. on September 2010. It is composed of 51 episodes distributed along six seasons.
