Sony's new addition to the Z series is about to be launched sometime in 2016 with Sony Xperia Z6. Speculations suggest that the new flagship will be released with new features and a faster chip to put up a fight against Apple's latest iPhone.

While official details on the handset's specs are currently unavailable, several rumors have circulated suggesting upgrades in the new gadget. According to International Business Times, Sony is set to incorporate the new Force Touch technology which will cause the product to be pressure sensitive and will be used to compete against iPhone 6's 3D Touchscreen.

It is also heavily rumored to retain the 23MP shooter in its rear camera like its Z5 predecessor. However, it is yet unclear whether it will be released in variants Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium as well. It is also likely to feature the OmniBalance design which is evident in the Xperia phones.

As reported by Trusted Reviews, Sony is also rumored to include 4GB RAM in their new handset as well as the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is unclear whether the Sony Xperia Z6 will be released in 4.7-inch, 5.2-inch, or 5.5-inch display or if it will be QHD or UHD. It will also be released with the Snapdragon 820 chipset which houses a faster Kryo processor and has Adreno 530 GPU which makes the device 40% faster and 40% less power consuming.

However, there are claims that it will feature upgrades such as Finger Print Scanner support, the 'Doze' mode, app permissions improvement, as well as USB-C support, and microSD card slot for its internal memory.

With Sony's history of releasing new models every six months, it is anticipated that the new product could hit the market in early 2016. But as reported by Mobipicker, launching for the new gadget might take place during the recently announced CES 2016 on January 5, 2016 to be held at Las Vegas' LVCC.

The event's teaser suggests that various headphones, TV sets, smartphones, and other gadgets will be announced. Also, another possible event for the launching of the product will be during the Barcelona MWC in February 2016. Tentative price for Sony Xperia Z6 is somewhere between £500 and 550.
