Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is officially heading to the biggest software upgrade in Android history. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will hit the device via over-the-air (OTA) in the first half of next year.
Sony and Google have agreed to bring in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow build to the Japanese giant's line of smartphones and tablets, and Xperia M4 Aqua is one lucky device. The device manufacturer had announced in October 2015 that all devices eligible for the upgrade will receive the best of both worlds, including Sony's new features, functionality and improvements.
A list revealed on a well-known blog site dedicated to Sony Mobile's devices, that the tech firm is said to have outlined its plans for Marshmallow and its lucky smartphones and tablets to receive the update. The exact release date has not been mentioned even until now. However, there are already ringing speculations that the Android update might come before the year ends.
Meanwhile, Sony has also confirmed the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to 13 other devices including Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z4, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5, among others.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will offer these devices a whole new level of user experience. Features include greater control over app permissions, fingerprint support, extensive Android Pay, better battery management, redesigned app drawer and more.
Apps Permissions gives users more power to control permissions of apps through individual allow or deny permissions. It is important to take note that Permissions are required the moment users will use a feature, not at the point of installation.
Fingerprint support provides the devices uniform support for fingerprint scanners running Marshmallow. Fingerprint functions to check purchases, unlock phones and purchase and shop in real-life or in the Play Store. Meanwhile, Android pay expands to American Express, Visa, Master Card, Discover and even Google Pay.
The redesigned app drawer uses vertically scrolling method instead of horizontal. It also shows the four most recently used apps across the top of the menu.
