Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone is officially heading to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade very soon. As previously teased in the past months, this model is expected to be one of Sony's devices to receive first the much-anticipated upgrade.
Google dev just completed the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow last October and it is gaining ground as the new build has been rolled out to a select device one by one. Sony being vocal about its Marshmallow plans has laid out its roadmap.
Sony Xperia Z2 model is expected to hit the Android 6.0 software in December or early next year. As the device has just been updated with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, many believed that the latest Android build might come later than December.
Per Sony tradition, software updates come on a 6-month cycle. This means, March 2016 is more likely closer to reality. However, everything remains a mystery until now as the Japanese giant had not uttered any official word so far.
Sony Xperia Z2 is a 5.2-inch smartphone released in april 2014. It rocks a display made of an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen protected by a shatter proof glass. The 2014 killer smartphone wears a 20 MP back camera, 2 MP front shooter, 3 GB of RAM, a non-removable 3,200 mAh battery.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will certainly make Xperia Z2 morph into a new-like device. It features battery optimization and better volume controls.
For the battery department, Google dev begins upholding serious proper battery management. The battery on the Settings menu now has an additional feature called "optimization". With this, Marshmallow takes full control of the energy consumption of the device, most especially when not in active use. It also offers custom skins.
Meanwhile, the volume controls have gotten a good share of improvement again. While Lollipop ditched the "Silent mode," it brought the Android community down to anger. With Marshmallow, "Do Not Disturb" comes into the scene which was said to function like the silent mode. It switches off some alerts as indicated.
