Creator and showrunner Pete Nowalk offered some scoops following How To Get Away With Murder’s intense season 2 winter finale in a recent interview. Nowalk also dropped spoilers on whats ahead for Karla Souza’s Laurel when the hit legal drama returns on February.
The Nov. 19th installment of HTGAWM marked the show’s winter finale, revealing the person who pulled the trigger on Annalise Keating. The episode titled “What Did We Do?” also gave away Annalise’s connection to a young Wes whom she called “Christophe” by the end of the hour.
Asked about what fans can expect from Wes’ storyline following the aftermath of this major reveal on his backstory, Nowalk admits that they too are confused about that matter. He notes that Wes will move forward having doubts to everything he believed in the moment Annalise whispered “Christophe” to him.
“He now has to question everything. There’s a huge mountain the two of them have to climb if they’re ever going to recover from this,” the executive producer previewed in an interview with TV Line.
While the Christophe mystery is something fans are excited to know about, HTGAWM still left some of its ongoing mystery untied on “What Did We Do”. This includes the mystery of the Hapstall case.
According to Nowalk, fans will get answers on who killed the Hapstalls when the series returns. “It’s not my goal to leave a case like that lingering too long,” he shared.
On Laurel’s orbit, meanwhile, viewers should expect to see her evolve following the intense Murder Night. Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly that she will be facing a “very big responsibility” when they come back -- while also teasing that the way she’ll handle it will surprise fans.
In other developments, Karla Souza, talked about her experience while working with Viola Davis in the midseason finale.
"The entire shot, for about five hours I guess, the camera was on the students, and she didn't change her performance, she would give us her 110%, and she was exhausted by the time the cameras went on her face,” the actress shared in a report from Melty.
Souza, who portrays one of Davis’ students, acknowledges Davis’ generosity in every scene they shot with her on the series. “Those are lessons we get every day,” she added.
How To Get Away With Murder Season 2returns on Thursday, Feb. 11 on ABC.
