‘Friday the 13th’ Game Hits Kickstarter Target, Release Assured

Being ironically fortunate as against its title, the game adaptation of the iconic horror film, Friday the 13th has finally reached its funding goals, assuring the game's development, as well as its release.

With the victorious quota-reaching, Gun Media now ensures Friday the 13th: The Game release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms, which is hoped to launch by next year. The game shall have a third person point of view. The game opts for a psychological approach as adopted by most horror games and focused more on a stealth driven gameplay while avoiding the peril of a quick and brutal death. Digital Trends reports that Gun Media assured that they are putting the fans at the "controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment."

The brutal game has met its funding goal just three days before its scheduled Kickstarter campaign deadline. Gamespot reveals that the funding kicked off in October which asked for $700,000 amount of funding. Nevertheless, the funding has exceeded the target and is now at $713,390 mark at press time. With this, the developers are now planning to add a new "Sleeping Bag Kill" to the game, which was adopted in the movies.

Furthermore, the developers also revealed the inclusion of the stretch goals which range from new types of skills adapted from the original Friday the 13th film to the new Jason character skins and weapons in the game. Entertainment Weekly further reveals that the gist of the game is that seven players taking the roles of being camp counselors face against the character who controls Jason in an effort to survive the whole night. The catch, however, is that success relies not from the survival in the night, as players would have to determine when and how to team up, as betrayal could always be an option in order to survive.

With the funding exceeding its target, Gun Media's Friday the 13th: The Game is now ensured and scheduled to release on October of 2016 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC platforms. Those who have pledged $25 or more in Kickstarter is now guaranteed a copy of the game.
