TAG recently released its first ever smartwatch called the TAG Heuer Connected Smartwatch. The new gadget received greater demand than previously expected and thus the Swiss company is raising the production of their watches to cater to more buyers.
As reported by Tech Crunch, Tag is raising their former 1,200 pieces of weekly production to 2,000 pieces due to the increased demand for the new watch. It is the first Android Wear for Tag and it comes with a titanium case.
Aside from the weekly production adjustment, Droid Life also reported that the Swiss company has decided to stop online stores for a while to prioritize their physical stores. With the success of the Tag Heuer Connected Smartwatch, CEO Jean-Claude Biver stated that they are planning to develop a collection of different smartwatches that will have varied executions and materials.
The reported collection of new watches is to be expected by the end of 2016 or early 2017 and might include diamonds and gold. According to The Verge, the new smartwatch features an Intel Processor, and has circular touch screen as well as voice controls. Unlike other smartwatches, it is unable to measure the owner's heartrate, but instead is able to keep track of the person's steps.
Also according to the trade, the new smartwatch carries an appearance of a mechanical Tag watch but also reveals its true form up close. It also has always-on mode for its display which is readable even outdoors, and is comfortable to wear despite its large size and rubber strap.
A Tag Heuer Connected Smartwatch is currently sold at $1,500. But the company seems to pay loyalty to mechanical watches as it also comes with a program that allows its buyers to get a new mechanical watch to trade for the smartwatch, 2 years after its purchase, by adding an extra $1,500.
