Sony's Santa Monica Studios stated that they are going to start working on the God of War 4 right after the release of GOW 3 remaster. However, since the release of the remastered game, the progress trail of GOW 4 seemed to have been silenced.
Accordingly, such silence has resulted to many rumors swarming the upcoming game, including the question of whether Sony would ever release God of War 4. Crossmap has previously written an article about a 2017 or 2018 launch of GOW 4 which implies that the gaming community would not be seeing a GOW 4 anytime this year. According to Head Writer Cory Barlog, they shall be concentrating on the development of GOW 4 once the remastered GOW 3 was released. However, the game was scheduled to launch on July of 2016 which means that updates shall remain inaudible. Another rumor tells that Kratos would not be appearing in GOW 4 and it seems like another mythological creature would be appearing in the game, contrary to previous speculations that Kratos would come back to life and defeat Thor, Loki, and Odin.
During the PlayStation Experience 2015, it was so disappointing that Sony Santa Monica has not shown its new GOW game, contrary to what was predicted. While what the gaming community knows is that GOW 4 is under development, the studio remained schtum for another year, keeping the project closely guarded. Push Square commented that the statements of Barlog serves as a reminder that there are people who make sacrifices just to ensure that games could be as good as they can possibly be. The site further reminded that while they do not say that gamers should not be critical of the game titles, perhaps it is worth noting that they were created and published by human beings.
On another news, a limited edition, 29-inch Kratos statue depicting the final scene in God of War was also announced to be available along the GOW 3 remaster. Vine Report reveals that only 1,250 units shall be available which will be a must have for hardcore fans and gamers of the GOW franchise. While rumors tell that Kratos would not be returning and that a new mythological character would be appearing, there are speculations which tell of Jak and Daxter's return, while others say that one of the Norse gods could be added.
While updates regarding God of War 4 remain silent, it is to be noted that the developers themselves told that they would be focusing on GOW 4 after the release of the remastered GOW 3. God of War 3 remastered, on the other hand, shall release on July 14, 2016 for PS4.
