The 11 bit civilian based war game, This War of Mine: The Little Ones, published by Deep Silver, has been announced to hit the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Furthermore, a tabletop board game coincides with the video game as well.
The game focuses on the reality of surviving and enduring a war, with the idea that despite a prevailing war, children will remain children as they laugh, cry, play, and see the world differently. According to the developers, the game allows a player not only to think of survival, but also of bringing back oneself to one's child at heart in order to understand how a player would protect the little ones in the game. Eurogamer reports that Senior Writer Pawel Miechowski revealed a detailed scenario which focuses on a child and his father holding up with two strangers as the civilians attempt to teach the children some practical skills. "Something feels wrong...They act normal but they know the truth," commented Miechowski.
The game, as Deep Silver describes, provides an experience of war not from an elite soldier's perspective but from a group of civilians struggling for survival. A very depressing trailer reveals the conditions which a player would face in the game. Destructoid reveals that players would need to make life or death decisions just to survive another day while struggling with hunger, lack of medical supplies, and with a constant threat from a harsh environment.
On another news, Yibada reports that This War of Mine would not only be playable with consoles, as 11 bits studio also provided a tabletop board game version of the video game. The board game is a fruit of a team effort with famous board game designers Jakub Wisniewski and Michael Oracz. Furthermore, they ventured with a story designer and translator and came up with a six player board game. The board game may also be supplemented with an optional app with digital contents that will make the game much easier.
Deep Silver and 11 bit studio's This War of Mine: The Little Ones is scheduled for release on January 29, 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Its board game counterpart, on the other hand, is aimed to release sometime also in 2016.
