Moto G (2013) Android 6.0 Marshmallow Canceled

By

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been confirmed canceled from rolling out to Motorola Moto G (2013) smartphone. This unfortunate news came after the revelation of Motorola about its devices up and ready for the latest software upgrade.

Moto G (2013) will not be seeing a light of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow as it was not included in the official list release by Motorola for its upgrade plans. Per report from Gospel Herald, the reason why the device was not able to make it to the cut is because it has fallen short with the storage qualification. In software upgrades, be it Android, iOS, Windows, etc., storage capacity is of utmost consideration before the device will be able to be confirmed for the update.

Accordingly, canceled status means the device did not pass for upgrade as per evaluation of the manufacturer. This implies that cancelation is permanent for the handset device and will no longer qualify for any future updates.

Motorola has outlined its Marshmallow plans only to the following devices:

  • 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Play
  • 2015 Moto G (3rd gen)
  • 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen)
  • 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia(2nd gen)
  • 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE(2nd gen)
  • DROID Turbo
  • 2014 Moto MAXX
  • 2014 Moto Turbo
  • Nexus 6

Meanwhile, these lucky devices will experience what Motorola has promised. The tech titan assured device owners that the Android 6.0 update will remove bloatware and skins, although not all. The primary aim of the company for the update is to "enable meaningful exchanges" between the owner and the phone. Motorola's native features to come in include simple voice controls and notifications that users can interact with even when the phone is asleep.

Android 6.0 will also come with a Doze mode, Now on Tap, fingerprint support, and direct share, among others.
