An official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is now made available for Samsung Galaxy A8 handsets through OTA. The new update is expected to provide improvement on the performance of the device and enhance its security features.
While the Samsung handset does not house the newest Android Marshmallow, Android Update Guide reported that a new update on the official Android Lollipop is expected to bring improvements on the security features and keep it free from glitches and vulnerabilities. While details in the areas of the release of the firmware are currently scarce, the new Android Lollipop update with the build version A8000ZHU2AOK1 pack is also reportedly available in Hong Kong.
According to Latin Post, while there are various ways to get the new update, they can get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop XXU1AOK6 update automatically through over-the-air (OTA), or through the desktop tool Samsung KIES which will not necessarily require back up for the files stored in the handset. However, it is also worth noting that the firmware is reportedly unbranded thus users must not have pre-installed apps or extra language packs.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 was released with features including a 1.8GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage which can further be expanded through a micro-SD up to 128GB. The handset also has a 3050mAh non-removable battery.
According to Gadgets 360 the device measures 158.50x76.80x5.90 in height, width, and thickness, and 151.00 grams in weight. Its connectivity options include wi-fi, GPS, bluetooth, FM, 3G, and 4G. It is also has dual-sim capacity.
Users can also reportedly enjoy its 16MP rear camera with flash that can shoot 1080 videos at 30 frames per second, as well as its 5MP cameras for video chats and selfies. Samsung Galaxy A8 has an AMOLED touch screen display with 1080x1920 pixels and screen size of 5.70 inches. It is available in black, white, and gold variants.
