Rollout has begun for the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OTA update for several Nexus tablets and handsets. Several improvements and enhancements are expected from the update which can also be downloaded on AOSP.
As reported by Latin Post, the new Android M update was confirmed by Google on their Nexus Google page announcing the release of new emojis for Nexus. Although the exact release dates for the gadgets have not been disclosed yet, the gadgets highly speculated to get the updates are the Nexus 6P "angler", Nexus 5X "Bullhead", Nexus Player "fugu", Nexus 6 "Shamu", Nexus 9 (Wi-fi only) "volantis", Nexus 9 LTE "volantisg", as well as Nexus 5 "Hammerhead", Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-fi only) "razor", and Nexus 7 2013 LTE "razorg".
Moreover, Google also released the factory images of the update in their AOSP page. According to Android News Center, aside from the rollout for the Nexus devices, Google is also partnering with Samsung, HTC, and Motorola for the release of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on their respective devices.
The new Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is expected to include more emojis for the devices. As reported by Gotta be Mobile, 200 emojis are expected to be featured as part of Unicode 8. The new update is also expected to include the "do-not-disturb" controls aside from the security enhancements such as the latest security patches, as well as various other performance improvements.
The new Android Marshmallow update is also expected to alter the placing of the back, home, and multi-tasking buttons which were previously situated in the bottom part of the screen. The buttons are reported to be split and placed to the edges of the screen in order to make navigation and going back to the home screen easier for the users.
Aside from Nexus, more details about the roll out of the new Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update are expected to be revealed for other devices as well in the coming months.
