‘Minecraft’ Updates: Game Finally Confirmed to Launch in Nintendo WiiU

Nintendo and Mojang has recently confirmed the coming of the open world sandbox game Minecraft to Nintendo WiiU consoles. The game was announced to launch through the eShop on December 17 for $30. A physical copy of the game, however, is yet to be announced.

Minecraft for WiiU game shall come bundled with six of the popular add-ons, along with a festive mashed-up theme around the holidays. Expansions are also to be expected soon. Mojang revealed that the will be adding more content packs to the game in the near future while keeping the core game updated for free. They further reminded that all DLC packs will be optional as a player can have significant amounts of fun playing Minecraft without spending actual cash. According to Gamespot, Mojang even confirmed that the game also supports off-TV play through the GamePad.

It was also reported by Eurogamer that 16 add-ons shall be available for purchase and could be added to the game separately. Furthermore, Nintendo has been working with Mojang on special theme packs which may be presumed to be Nintendo skins and themes. Reportedly, the game would already come with content packs such as Battle & Beats 1 and 2 skin packs, natural texture pack, city texture pack, fantasy texture pack, and festive mash-up pack.

However, the developers themselves has also confirmed that the Gamepad could only be used as second screen. It was further revealed by Geek Snack that the Japanese developer has confirmed that other paid DLC packs would launch soon. These packs include The Simpsons Skin Pack, two Doctor Who Skin Packs, three Star Wars Skins Packs, and more.

Minecraft WiiU edition will be the first new console port for the open ended sandbox game since Microsoft bought Mojang, including the rights to the game. The game shall be available for electronic purchase on December 17 for $30.
