Minecraft: Pocket Edition game developer, Tommasso Chacchi, has just recently announced in his Twitter account that the upcoming update for the said game will be delayed for now. Instead of the earlier planned release date, which is this coming July 29, to coincide with the launch of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, the update will now be moved to August.
The reason for this was shared by Touch Arcade, citing Chacchi's tweet which goes as this, "So we actually wanted to release MCPE on the 29th, but it would have no Enchanting, Music, or Controller support, which would be a disappointment to many... so August, hopefully."
"Enchanting, Music, and Controller support" are just one of the many features that are expected to be added to Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.12. Pocket Gamer gives a detailed breakdown of all these new features, which are as follows:
Customizable Interface - Players can can move buttons and experience bars and hearts; a traditional PC-style inventory; controller support, as they no longer have to play using the touch screen for controls;
New controls - Players gets access to buttons for jumping, sprinting, and sneaking;
New blocks - This includes brewing stands that lets players make potions, and enchantment tables that let them enchant items with magical properties;
New Enemies - Including zombies, huge nasty cats, and large iron Golems;
New Dungeon Design; new animations such as jumping slimes, particle effects when mobs are on fire, and an updated TnT explosion; a bar that tracks player's hunger and keeps them eating; weather changes with raining and snowing effects; a hell-like dimension called the nether;
Enchanting Feature - Players gain experience points from playing, and where they can also provide their gear with magical properties through enchantment;
Redstone - Allows players to do a lot of things including making a million-block calculator or automated minecart trucks, or it lets them wire up some machines;
New Items are also implemented such as glistening melons, enchanted apples, and golden carrots, to name a few, and finally,
Soundtrack - which makes gaming an entirely different experience far from the usual silent playing mode.
According to the report by Softpedia, the game's developers, Mojang said, that whenever they set a date for a game release, they usually miss these dates for a month.
Come August, Minecraft fans will be looking forward to the major game updates for Minecraft: Pocket Edition, and hopefully, the waiting is worth it.
