Nvidia is set to release an updated GTX 965M and it is expected to be faster than the previous version. However, it is not expected to be released in a new name, and is also speculated to retain its previous price.
As reported by Tech Frag the GTX 965M which is currently code named 'N16E-GS' will be updated to a faster variant with the code name ' N16E-GR', and although its name will not be altered, it is possible to acquire the 'Ti' status.
The chip is also expected to be faster with its Base clock to be raised from 924MHz to 935MHz. Its Boost clock will also be at approximately 1175MHz from 1151MHz. In the 3DMark 11 Benchmark, the updated chip scored 8400 points which is reportedly 15% faster than the original version, while it is also 15% slower compared to GTX 970M.
The Nvidia GTX 965M is said to feature 128 bits bus width, with 4GB GDDR5 memory as well as support of up to 80GB/s of sustained bandwidth. As reported by WFFC Tech, the device currently has a GM204 core, and it is yet to be known if it will be a released with a revised version of the GM204 core or a new GM206.
Moreover, according to Notebook Check, there are no updates as of yet on which device will get the new GTX 965M however, recent speculations suggest that MSI, Clevo, and Gigabyte might be among the first on the line, especially because they were also among the companies to release notebook that featured the GTX 965M.
While the exact date of release of the Nvidia GTX 965M has not been revealed yet, it is expected to be unwrapped sometime during the first quarter of 2016. The update will also be released with the same price as the previous version which is good news for its potential buyers.
