2016 Nintendo NX Update: Dragon Quest X, XI to arrive on new cloud-based Nintendo console

By

Nintendo is expected to release the Nintendo NX game console on 2016. The company is considering bringing the Dragon Quest X and XI games to the new, supposedly cloud-based console.

The Nintendo NX could arrive at retail stores in 2016. Design & Trend reported that Nintendo will start developing the console in Q1 of 2016. The company reportedly eyes on 20 million units of the console shipped by December next year.

However, there are doubts whether the Nintendo NX will succeed in terms of sales. Its predecessor, the Nintendo Wii U, struggled in the market. Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima said that the Nintendo NX will be a totally different and unique experience from the disastrous Wii U.

"It's something unique and different," said Kimishima. "It's something where we have to move away from [Wii U] in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base."

The company confirmed in a press release that it is considering to bring Dragon Quest X and XI games to the Nintendo NX, PS4, and Nintendo 3DS in 2016. Tech Radar reported that the two Japanese role-playing games (RPG) will likely make its way to the upcoming console as per game publisher Square Enix.

Meanwhile, a patent filed by Nintendo suggests that the Nintendo NX could operate on a cloud-based and upgradable system. The patent records that the console could connect to "supplemental computing devices" via Bluetooth, WiFi, or wire connection to boost performance power. The technology is designed to reportedly "increase the speed or quality of a user's gaming experience", mentioned MCV.

Nintendo also shot down rumors saying that the NX will run on Android platform. The company said that such rumors have no basis and that they are not planning to use Android on the Nintendo NX.

Pre-orders for the Nintendo NX can be made in an Australian game retail store. Customers can pre-order the Nintendo NX at EB Games Australia instore.
