Downtown Abbey star, Michelle Dockery, delivered a heart-wrenching eulogy to her fiance, John Dineen, during his funeral. On her tribute, the 34-year-old actress shared that Dineen was her "everything". Apart from the tribute, the actress quietly sang a song that both she and her 34-year-old fiance cherished as a couple -- "The Folks Who Live on the Hill" by Oscar Hammerstein.
Right after the service at the St. James Church in Ballinora Cork, Ireland, a private cremation for Dineen took place. The location was just a few minutes away from the farm where Dineen grew up. He was cremated last Wednesday night, a day before he would have turned 35. Coincidentally, he died just two days before Dockery's birthday.
On her tribute, Dockery shares that she feels honored to know, love, and be loved by Dineen. Referring to him as her "everything", Dockery shares that she considers him as her friend, king, and hero. Dineen, a man of loyalty and charm, will definitely be missed by many.
Dineen, a PR Executive in London, was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer earlier this year. While the actress was promoting the final season of the TV series, Dockery received word of her fiance's ailing condition. This prompted the actress to immediately fly back to Ireland from the United States just so she could be with her fiance and his family during this difficult time.
The couple started dating in September 2013 after being introduced by the actress' co-star, Allen Leech. Dockery, who maintained a private life, never confirmed it when news surrounding her engagement broke. But based on reports, the actress had showed off her ring to her cast members back in February this year. The couple, however, were said to have been planning their big day together.
Our condolences goes out to Michelle Dockery and the family of the late John Dineen.
