Mortal Kombat X Live-Action Web Series Comes Out Early Next Year Alongside Kombat Pack 2 DLC

Mortal Kombat X will go into a live-action web series alongside Kombat Pack 2 DLC that is due early next year.

As reported by Design & Trend, Mortal Kombat X director Garrett Warren was quoted from his recent tweet about the web series saying that it is a work in progress which is "scheduled to be released early next year." The live-action web series will launch closely with the release of the Kombat Pack 2 DLC.

Furthermore, the said web series is anticipated to explain the controversial character choices of Warner Bros. for the Kombat Pack 2 DLC. If one recalls, after months of guessing game and speculations, the four fighters for the Kombat Pack 2 were finally revealed at Game Awards 2015. These are:

  • Leatherface from the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • Xenomorph from Alien
  • Bo Rai Cho from Drunken Fist Master
  • Tri-Borg - a fusion of Cyrax, Sektor and Robot

However, it appears that many fans are not pleased with the characters selection. While fans have no problem accepting Tri Borg and Bo Rai Cho, there is an outrage of fans against Leatherface and Xenomorph.

Minutes after the announcement of Kombat Pack 2 characters, Mortal Kombat X fans flooded the Reddit forums with complaints questioning the character choice for the DLC. The report captured the sentiments of two disappointed fans, saying:

"I've read through so many threads in this subreddit, and I don't think a single person asked for Leatherface as DLC."

"MKX needed a sick KP2 to keep the community interested, and here we are, with f-ing Leatherface." These are just two snippets of a much larger trend permeating social media.

It still remains a question for fans of Mortal Kombat X as to why Leatherface is considered as a guest Kombatant. Brian Chard, director of NetherRealm Studios, admitted that there are "lots of people" are involved in the decision making and the development. The characters, ironically, didn't even match the tastes of Chard. For Chard, Fujin, Havik, Sareena and Khameleon would be nicer instead.

Mortal Kombat X is the tenth installment in the Mortal Kombat video game for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The first four Kombat Pack DLC characters that were released included Jason Voorhees, Predator, Tanya, and Tremor.
