'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' recently debuted its latest trailer revealing one of the major villains as Doomsday. Fans took to Twitter to voice out their outrage over unnecessary spoilers.
According to Yahoo! News, the latest official trailer premiered on December 2, 2015 on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and featured Henry Cavill as Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman. The two were shown meeting at a gala hosted by Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor with hostility between them. Gal Gadot's Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman was also introduced as an essential part of the new superhero team-up after she is seen shielding Batman from a fatal death.
One specific major spoiler presented in the newest trailer was the fact that the duo will not just be battling against Lex but also with the villainous Doomsday as well. In one scene, Michael Shannon's Zod was seen zipped up in a body bag and it was revealed that he will eventually be transformed into Doomsday by none other than Lex himself.
According to Cosmic Book News, production designer Patrick Tatopoulos elaborated more on how they came to bring the DC characters to life. He said, "We are able to tell a story in a fresh way. Doomsday is an evolution essentially. Fans may be aware of the death of Superman story, but this is handled in such a new way... When the film is called Batman v or versus Superman, it really has a lot of levels to the meaning. Superman isn't just killed off at the end of something. We see how he evolves as part of Lex's plan to protect the world."
It seemed that not too many fans were delighted to see the newest trailer. According to Tech Insider, several users on Twitter complained that the teaser contained too many spoilers. Doomsday, for one, was deemed an unnecessary spoiler. YouTube user Kevin O'Fee responded with an edited trailer, cutting out several spoilers and making it a minute shorter than the original.
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is an upcoming sequel to 2013's 'Man of Steel' and is intended as the second installment in the DC shared universe. The superhero film based on DC's comic book characters of the same name is directed by Zack Snyder based on a screenplay by Chris Terrio and David Goyer. It features an ensemble cast of Cavill, Affleck, Gadot, Eisenberg, Jason Momoa and Amy Adams among others and is scheduled to be released on March 25, 2016.
