The Illuminati, otherwise known as the club for the rich and famous, is the name given to several groups allegedly aiming to control the world. Numerous moguls of politics, business and trade are rumored to be part of the notorious secret society but nothing could be more a target for conspiracy theorists than those involved in the entertainment industry.
According to Belief Net, successful musicians namely as Jay-Z, Beyonce, Madonna and Kanye West have been speculated to be part of the elusive Illuminati. Their fame and wealth aside, it was reported that these individuals favor the use of symbolism and hidden messages in their work and promotional material.
West, specifically, was allegedly inducted into the secret society after launching his album "Jesus Walks" that had the image of the crucified Christ on the cover. The image was seen as a religious mockery with many commenting that he had been doing culturally and religiously insensitive if not offensive things throughout his career. His live concerts are also said to be filled to the brim with occultist imagery complete with pagan symbols and triangles.
Another article by Star Pulse wrote that several other Hollywood celebrities have been spotted and photographed making these symbols including holding up an "OK" gesture with their hand and looking through their thumb and forefinger. It signified the number of the devil: triple 6.
An equally symbolic gesture includes throwing up a triangle or diamond hand gesture suggesting a pyramid or the Eye of Providence, which are popular Illuminati icons. Jay-Z is known to incorporate these in his videos and performances as well and even integrates demonic imagery in his albums such as devil horns and goat skulls.
According to the Standard, West told Paper Magazine that he was tired of all the Illuminati rumors surrounding him. The American rapper responded to a flood of insinuations that Jay-Z's launch for his new streaming service Tidal was actually a gathering for members of the Illuminati. He said, "If there was actually an Illuminati, it would be more like the energy companies. Not celebrities that gave their life to music and who are pinpointed as decoys for people who really run the world. I'm tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That's ridiculous. We don't run anything; we're celebrities. We're the face of brands."
West was not the only one to refute such claims. Whether or not the public receives his defense whole-heartedly, these celebrities will continue to be perceived as attaining wealth, power and fame through exclusive membership in the Illuminati.
