Boston bombing suspect to grace Rolling Stones

By

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspect of the Boston bombing incident, was announced today as the next cover of Rolling Stones magazine. The magazine, which will be released on the 3rd of August, received harsh criticism from people around the world.

The 19-year old is a native of Chechyna. His self-portrait was chosen by the magazine as the face of their next issue, which included the words "The Bomber". According to the magazine, they chose the photo in conjunction with the company's lead story. Rolling Stones said that the piece was "a riveting and heartbreaking account of how a charming kid with a bright future became a monster."

When selling magazines, shock always does well, according to an article by The New Daily News. In the past, controversial covers have boosted the sales of the magazines involved.

Rolling Stones is no stranger to delivering the shock to boost readership. In 1981, the magazine featured a naked John Lennon kissing Yoko Ono. Time Magazine's cover of O.J. Simpson also sparked the same criticism.
