Time magazine has entered into a long-term content agreement with OpenAI, granting the ChatGPT creator access to its extensive collection of news content. This partnership was announced by the companies on Thursday (June 27).

OpenAI, Time Ink Deal for AI-Powered Content Sharing and Innovation

The chatbot will provide users with the necessary information by citing and linking back to the source on Time.com, as stated by the companies. The financial details of the agreement were not made public.

The artificial intelligence firm led by Sam Altman has recently entered into agreements with several prominent media organizations, including the Financial Times, France's Le Monde, Business Insider-owner Axel Springer, as well as Spain's Prisa Media.

OpenAI and Time have announced a collaboration where both companies will benefit from each other's expertise, Reuters reported.

OpenAI will utilize Time's content to enhance and train its products, while Time will gain access to OpenAI's technology to develop innovative new products. This partnership will foster mutual growth and innovation.

OpenAI to Access Real-Time Time Content for Breaking News Queries

OpenAI is going to have access to real-time content from Time, allowing them to provide timely answers to user queries about breaking news.

According to Engadget, OpenAI has agreed to acknowledge Time and provide a link to the original source material on the publication's website.

Maybe Time will also benefit financially, similar to other publishers who have turned to OpenAI in hopes of finding a new revenue stream to support struggling media companies.

Time emphasizes that the agreement strengthens its dedication to increasing worldwide access to reliable and trustworthy information. Last year, the website removed its paywall for the same reason.

The magazine, which has transitioned to a biweekly publication due to the challenges posed by the internet's impact on print advertising, has announced its collaboration with OpenAI's technology to create innovative products for its readership.

Time will also contribute valuable insights and practical knowledge to improve the way journalism is delivered in ChatGPT and other OpenAI products, ultimately shaping the future of news experiences.
