Luxvue Technology Corp, a stealth firm that works on next-generation micro-LED technology, has secured $25.2 million in funding. This was according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to VentureBeat.
The company does not have a website and has not disclosed much about its present project. The latest funding comes after it previously raised $18 million. CrunchBase notes that LuxVue "develops low-power, microLED-based displays for consumer electronics applications," the report stated.
LuxVue filed several micro-LED technology patents this year. This technology could power displays in wearable devices, gadgets, and digital signage in the future. LuxVue's technology is rumored to be the display technology in the next Glass model of Google. Compared to OLED displays, micro-LED displays could have longer life and brighter screens. OLED displays already are significantly brighter and more efficient than the older LCD technology, the report explained.
The secretive micro-LED firm has yet to comment on this news, VentureBeat reported.
