M.D. Jennings will not be re-signed with the Green Bay Packers. This was after the Packers’ decision to not extend a qualifying offer to the NFL star. This would make the starting safety of the team a free agent. Jennings played with the Packers in a total of 26 games, reported GreenBayPressGazette.
Meanwhile, Jennings could still be re-signed with the Packers but at a lower offer. The price would only amount to USD1.431 million which Jennings could refuse to.The 25 year old Jennings started last season with a total of 16 games at safety with 74 tackles. However, he failed to generate a turnover.
The Packers said that they wanted the defense of their team to improve and that they see safety as the first place to start. Chris Banjo was signed to a one year contract with exclusive rights agreement. Meanwhile, the team also signed Sean Richardson and veteran Morgan Burnett for the games next season.
