Pelé joins the long list of celebrity death hoax victims

Pelé, the 73 year old footballer was said to have passed away on Tuesday around 11 a.m. ET. This was according to a Facebook page entitled RIP Pelé. Football enthusiasts were encouraged to show their sympathies to the beloved player. Millions of fans were alleged to have expressed their condolences after seeing the FB page. However, it turns out that this was another celebrity death hoax.

According to a report from Media Mass, the said FB page stated, "At about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday (March 11, 2014), our beloved footballer Pelé passed away. Pelé was born on October 23, 1940 in Três Corações. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

The hoax death of the football superstar was also taken to Twitter, while others doubted if the story was indeed true. Meanwhile, fans of one of the greatest football players in the world had grieved because of the fake death story.
As of this writing, the Facebook page had already been taken doubt by the social media’s administrators after the unwanted effects of the hoax death.

Meanwhile, Santos representatives cleared that Pelé is very much alive. They said, "He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
