A report from New Strait Times said that a satellite network of the US government had been used in the past to identify heat signatures associated with blazing aircrafts. However, in the case of the missing MH370, there was no explosion found. This was according to US officials who asked not to be named told NST.
The mystery of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was added after no evidence of mid-air explosion was found. The jetliner left Kuala Lumpur International Airport last Friday around 1730 GMT. Flight MH370 was supposed to head for Beijing before it went missing an hour after departure.
US officials also added that naval ships had already been sent out to join the search operations in the South China Sea. This was despite no specific area was identified via satellites.
According to one official, “If they had picked up something (by satellite), our ships would have been sent to that spot.”
The search and rescue operations for the missing Boeing 777-200 have now expanded to nearly 27,000 nautical miles.
