Jim Kelly, Buffalo Bills ex-quarterback, is currently going through a cancer recurrence, this time the disease has become more aggressive. This was according to Kelly’s wife Instagram post. Jill Kelly wrote that her husband’s health is deteriorating, reported last Monday through numerous media outlets.
Kelly’s wife wrote that the former quarterback would undergo surgery on Thursday in Manhattan. Jim Kelly has been in and out of the hospital in the last 10 days, reported Buffalo News 4. Last week, Kelly’s former teammates Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith and Andre Reed came to his home for a visit.
Last June, the ex-quarterback hall of famer was diagnosed with upper jaw cancer. He had also undergone surgery to remove a part of his jawbone. Kelly was also declared cancer-free after the operation without going through chemotherapy or radiation.
However, Erie County Medical Center announced last March 14 that Kelly’s cancer reoccurred. Dr. Thom Loree issued a statement saying, "Jim Kelly came to ECMC this week for continued testing related to his oral surgery. Unfortunately, it has been determined that his cancer has returned.”
