A teenage girl battling with cancer requested to meet her idol, Miami Heat superstar LeBron James. The Heat made sure he did and Ebony Nettles-Bey had his dream came true last Saturday night, reported TheGrio.
The Heat honored their promise and went to the BMO Bradley Harris Center before heading against the Milwaukee Bucks. Nettles-Bay played on her school’s basketball ball even after she was diagnosed with cancer. Ebony had lost weight and her hair started to fall off due to treatment but this did not stop her from playing, said TheGrio report.
In February, Ebony’s supporters started a Twitter campaign in February with hashtag #LeBronMeetEbony. The hashtag went viral and was soon noticed by the company and LeBron himself. LeBron sent Ebony a signed jersey earlier this month. The NBA’s current MVP also called the teenager his “favorite player.”
In an interview, James said”I didn’t need to meet her to understand how strong she was. But it’s great to be around her and see her enthusiasm even with what she’s dealing with. It’s like she doesn’t even have [cancer]. It’s not going to stop her. That’s a very unique trait.”
