LeBron James added three more trophies to his collection after winning thrice at the ESPY Awards. The NBA superstar won in the male athlete of the year category for his work in the Miami Heat championship game.
The other two awards were from the NBA player and championship performance categories. James swept all of his nominations including a best team award for the Miami Heat.
Teammate Ray Allen commented on the victory, "We did everything we could to fight, scratch and claw to put ourselves in that moment. We went through so much adversity."
The Espy Award is a nickname given to the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award. ESPN, an American cable sports channel, presents the awards to individuals and teams which achieved within the calendar year.
According to Forbes' data, LeBron James ranks 4th in the world's highest paid athletes list. The NBA shooter earned a total of US$60 million as of last month. Investors have made placements on his marketability, amounting to US$42 million.
