Westboro Baptist Church, a small church in Oklahoma, has gained popularity all over the United States. The congregation has been increasing its popularity over pickets showing hate against gays. The church also said that natural calamities were allowed by God because people have approved of same sex marriage. Westboro Baptist Church is behind the popular anti-gay slogan, “God Hates Fags”.
Even as they are allowed to openly show their hate against gays through pickets, an unlikely change of events occurred after the residents also protested against the rallying church members from across the street. Moore, Oklahoma had been hit by a great tornado last year and were probably much going through a lot to endure the picket of the church members, said a report from IJReview.
There were thousands of residents who were just across the street counter protesting the members of Westboro Baptist Church. The situation was heated when several people tried to cross the street and go to the rallying members of the church, reported
IJReview. Even those who are driving by the road also cheered showing support to the town’s people. Meanwhile, the police tried to ease the tension by telling anti-Westboro Baptist Church protesters to stay on the other side of the street.
The tension ended when the members of the anti-gay church were driven away.
