As the 2014 FIFA World Cup draws near, Brazilian football sensation and FC Barcelona super star Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior extends a helping hand to fellow Brazilians who are in need of clean water. Neymar has always been known for his charitable works and this time with his Neymar Jr. Project Institute in collaboration with PayPal, communities across Brazil will have access to safe, drinkable water through the non-profit organization Waves for Water.
The sports icon is well aware of the immense pressure that he bears on his shoulders, as his national team Brazil enters the World cup as the favorites to win the tournament, but he can always take a day off from football especially if it involves answering a bigger call from his fellow Brazilians. To him, it is an important cause - helping to bring clean water to impoverished people in Brazil - that stirs emotions in his heart.
"I am extremely proud to work with PayPal to support Waves for Water," explains Neymar Jr "It deeply saddens me that so many people from my home country of Brazil have limited access to clean water, a gift so many of us take for granted. Through this campaign I hope we can touch people's lives in a meaningful way and raise enough funds to bring safe, clean water to communities in need across my beloved Brazil" the football star emotionally exclaims.
This time, Neymar will reach out to people around the world for support in one of his football matches but to "compete" on behalf of their nations to be part of this great cause, funded via PayPal, to help countless Brazilians improve their lives with clean and accessible water through their generous donations.
Without a doubt, Neymar is a hero, an idol, and a true countryman in Brazil. He may fail to deliver a World Cup title for his country this summer but in the eyes of countless Brazilians - who he will help through Waves of Water and who he has already helped through the years with his foundation and charitable works - he is already a true champion.
