LG Optimus Pro users can now update their devices to Android 4.4.2 starting May 21. The update can be accessed through the Over the Air Software specifically for E980. Another way to update is through the Firmware Over the Air or FOTA. People can access through WiFI data under AT&T. People do not need as much data usage to update to the firmware. The software only requires around 700-800MB space.
According to AT&T, the update offers the following features:
- Restyled status and navigation bars
- New full-screen mode
- Stronger security
- Battery performance improvements
- Google Cloud Printer support
- Enhanced processing speed
Although the update will not harm the memory of the device, it is still best for people to create a backup of all their important information including settings and programs. There are many ways to back up the devices data: SD card, third party application or via the computer. Users can find a good selection of third party backup programs from the Play Store.
There will also be notification asking the users to update to the firmware. According to AT&T, people who cannot wait for the update prompt can also update manually. Users can only delay their update up to 3 times and every 4 hours. If they have reached the maximum number of delays then the device will update automatically.
To install the firmware manually, users can pull the notification bar down. Click on General tab then go over to About Phone. Open Software Update then choose Update Now. There will be instructions provided. To check if the device is running on the software already, return to General Tab > About Phone > Software Information. User should look for the following details:
- Android version: 4.4.2
- Baseband version: APQ8064/MDM9x15M
- Build number: KOT49I.E98020g
- Software version: E98020g
