Free Agenct rumors: Kevin Love to the Bulls?

By

We are now just days away from the 2014 NBA Free Agency, which is scheduled to kick off on July 1, and rumors about potential free agent stars and their possible destinations are as hot as ever. Among the big names in this summer's free agency bonanza, Kevin Love has been in the spotlight of plenty of rumors.

The Latest one surrounding the Timberwolves power forward involves the Chicago Bulls offering a couple of players and draft picks Per ESPN's Chad Ford:

"The Bulls, who are offering Taj Gibson, Tony Snell plus Nos. 16 and 19, are the latest suitors."

Love is coming out of a monstrous 2013-2014 season averaging 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds while setting an NBA Record for becoming the first player in league history to record 2,000 points, 900 rebounds and 100 3-pointers in a single season. He is arguably the best power forward in the NBA today in a generation that features elite power forwards like Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Anthony Davis, to name a few.

It has been reported that Love informed the Timberwolves that he plans on becoming a restricted free agent and would not sign a contract extension when it expires at the end of the 2014-15 season after the team once again missed the playoffs - Kevin Love has never reached the playoffs with the Wolves and in his career for that matter. This signaled teams to explore possible trade options to bring the perennial all-star big man into their franchise.

Given that Love's desire is to play with a team that is ready for a deep playoff run, the Bulls make perfect sense for him. He can play pick and roll and pick and pop with Derrick Rose - if he comes back Healthy for good - whole game long. And although a dominant rebounder and scorer, Love is not known for his defense making him a perfect fit for the bulls who have plenty of defenders but no known scorers except for Rose.
