Downton Abbey, one of the most talked about and acclaimed television dramas with Emmy and Golden Globe recognition is all set for its next season. The upcoming season of the show is scheduled to be on air in January 4, 2015 (Sunday) on PBS's Masterpiece Classic in the US.

The viewers will see some new faces in the next season of Downton Abbey along with Dame Harriet Walter as Lady Shackleton and Peter Egan as Lord Flintshire. The new faces of the show will include Richard E Grant (Simon Bricker) and Anna Chancellor (Lady Anstruther) as guests and Rade Sherbedgia as Russian Refugee.

Writer and creator of Downton Abbey Julian Fellowes claims that there will be no massacre killing in season 5, according to Daily express UK. "There will not be someone coming in with a machine gun. I can't see it," he said.

In Downton Abbey season 3, Lady Sybil and Matthew Crawley had ultimate deaths as the actors playing the role had to leave the show. In the upcoming season, actor Lily James, who plays Lady Rose, may be off the show since she is busy promoting her new movie Cinderella.

Commenting about it to Christiantoday.com, Fellowes said, "People don't understand that if the actor wants to leave the show we are not in control of that kind of stuff. What I'm always touched by the way these people become real to the audience."

Talking about the new season, Executive producer Gareth Neame said, "Audience have enjoyed their regular Sunday evenings visiting Downton. So we are thrilled to produce a new series of the show and we promise all the usual highs and lows, romance, drama and comedy played by some of the most iconic characters on the television."
