Motorola Droid Maxx, Ultra and Mini Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update Guide: How to Install and Schedule

Google has released the Android 4.4.4 KitKat on a variety of devices. Motorola is among the first to roll out the system to its range of devices including the Droid Maxx, Ultra and Mini. Similar to other Android roll outs, the Android 4.4.4 release will be in stages. Some users may have already been notified about the program but some users may have to wait for a while longer.

According to Motorola Verizon, people can expect the following features on the Android 4.4.4 Droid Ultra update:

  • Stability, framework and security improvements
  • Bluetooth connectivity has been improved
  • Improved camera picture quality
  • Improved photos in fluorescent lighting
  • Enhanced dynamic range
  • Ability to pause video recording
  • Offers pause/resume button on the viewfinder
  • The latest versions of these apps have been added:

VZ Cloud

  • Visual Voicemail: View caller, voicemail details and access messages on-screen
  • ISIS Wallet Mobile app has been added
  • Process contactless payment

For those who have received the notification for the update, they can check manually. To do this, go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates then choose "Yes, I'm in." Confirm with "Install Now." Wait for the installation to start and finish. Check the phone settings if it is running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat already.

For users that received the notification, they simply have to tap on the System Update and confirm with "Yes, I'm in." Wait for the software to be downloaded completely before swiping to the notification bar and choosing Install System Update. Confirm with Install Now. Following installation, the handset should re-start automatically. It should be running on the Android 4.4.4 software.

Users will have to clarify with their carriers about the release of the update. Some regions may or may not be eligible while others may be scheduled for a later release.
