"Avatar 2" Moving Faster Than First Film - When Will We See a Trailer? [Rumors]

By

Because James Cameron has decided to shoot three "Avatar" films back to back to back, the process of actually getting another "Avatar" into theaters is going to take a long time.

But that doesn't mean we won't get a trailer sooner.

That's the latest rumor to hit the internet - that the "Avatar 2" trailer will be releasing in "next to no time." As the film releases in December of 2016, a trailer in 2014 would be well in advance, but might be a good way to drum up interest for a long media campaign. Typically, trailers only start to appear within a year of the film's release (remember, we still haven't seen any footage of next year's big blockbusters- "Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Jurassic World" or "Terminator 5").

Back in April, Cameron gave fans an update on the status of the next three "Avatar" films. In an AMA with Reddit, he divulged the following information:

"The second, third, and fourth films all go into production simultaneously," said Cameron. "They're essentially all in pre-production now because we are designing creatures, settings, and characters that span all three films. And we should be finished with all three scripts within the next, I would say, six weeks."

Because all three films are shooting at once, Cameron may be in the filming process for an extremely long time. However, Comic-Con, coming up in just a few weeks, is typically the biggest time of year for information about coming blockbusters. It remains to be seen if "Avatar 2" will have any presence at the convention.

One thing we do know for sure is that a large portion of "Avatar 2" will take place underwater, given that star Sam Worthington has expressed his fears over shooting all those scenes with scuba gear.

At least it's an opportunity to see a slew of new underwater aliens. That was one area where "Avatar's" fauna was a little lacking.
