Apple Rumor Roundup: Game Controller, Gold iPad Mini TouchID, Craziest Apple Leads

By

Apple rumors are always out in different forms of media, be it internet, television, or print. A majority of these articles should not be trusted. As the launch of the iPhone 6 approaches, here are some of the most absurd Apple rumors that have been released.

1. "Apple will release a game controller in 2013"

-In March 2013, PocketGamer provided "confirmation" that Apple would be releasing a game controller. Apple was said to be in talks with game developers in San Francisco. Apple did not release a game controller last year, but Apple has a 2010 patent for a game controller, it is unclear why Apple would do this.

2. "The iPhone 5 will be Sprint exclusive"

-A day before the iPhone 4S launch, BGR's Jonathan Geller said the next iPhone, which he thought would be the iPhone 5, would be exclusive to Sprint. Then there would also be a cheaper version of the phone, the iPhone4S, that would be made available to other carriers like AT&T and Verizon customers. As it turned out, the fifth gen iPhone (iPhone 4S) was available for all carriers. The iPhone 5 was not released until 2012.

3. "In 2013, a gold iPad mini with touch ID will launch"

-After the iPhone 5S was released, a Chinese website called DoNews released pictures of a champagne colored iPad mini with a fingerprint sensor. That year's iPad mini did not have a fingerprint sensor, and there was no gold color.

4. "The iPod Classic will no longer be sold in 2013"

-Reports of this come up every few years, but Wired boldly said that by the end of 2013, Apple would no longer sell the iPod Classic. In contrast to what was reported, Apple is still selling the iPod Classic to this day, and is the last remaining iPod product that has a click wheel.
