A new custom ROM has been created to bring the features of Kitkat 4.4.3 to Samsung S3 users. This update, however, requires a rooted phone and has only been tested for the T-Mobile variant. The VanirAOSP Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3 T-999 contains customization options and tweaks and improves performance.
T-Mobile subscribers who own Samsung Galaxy smartphones can now get their hands on the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat update. Even with the delayed update from Samsung, the custom ROM can be installed by the phone owner provided that the prerequisites are met. According to KpopStarz, the VanirAOSP custom firmware has been created for the T999 model or the S3 T-Mobile variant. Users of other S3 models can download at their own risk.
Before installing the custom ROM, the phone should already be rooted and have the ClockworkMod Recovery/TWRP tool installed. IB Times reminds users that the installation of a custom ROM will void the warranty of the device, which can hinder receiving future updates. Flashing the device with a stock ROM can restore its warranty.
KpopStarz advices users to make sure that their battery level is at least 80% otherwise the installation might be interrupted, which can damage the handset. The necessary USB drivers should also be installed on the PC for easy connection. Another thing to remember is to back up all your data, since the installation of the custom ROM will delete everything.
Meanwhile, those who want to install Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update on their Samsung Galaxy S3 19300 devices can install the Flashing Droid Custom ROM, which packs in stock S5 themes, My Magazine UI, Touchwiz, Apps, S5 Camera UI, Glamorous Lockscreens, download booster, OnePlus Next Camera, and many more. The performance of the device will also be improved, as reported by IB Times.
As of now, Samsung's official update is yet to come to most of its devices. It will not be a surprise if Samsung decides to skip and update and combine important updates into a bigger one. Android Origin thinks that Samsung will be bypassing the Android 4.4.3 update on older devices and instead continue with the 4.4.4 update but with the bug fixes from 4.4.3 included.
