We have now arrived at the final stages of the 2014 NBA Free Agency as numerous teams have already filled out their rosters and are already preparing for training camp. The market, however, remains open for some young studs like Greg Monroe and Eric Bledsoe who are surprisingly still without a contract offer from their team or any other team. And aside from Monroe, the free agency pool still has a few big men left who can make some impact to their team coming of the bench.
Here is a quick look at the best remaining Big men in the free agency market.
Greg Monroe - Monroe's camp are reportedly planning on him accepting any qualifying offer from Detroit and enter next summer as an unrestricted free agent. This gives us the idea that things aren't going well with him and the team that drafted him No.7 overall in 2010. Overall, Monroe doesn't want to spend the next chapter in his career with Detroit and the Pistons will not let him walk away next year for nothing. For any team who is looking to make a significant move before free agency market officially closes, there is every reason to try and pry him out.
Andre Blatche - There are plenty of teams in the league who are looking for a scoring big in their second unit and Blatche maybe the best remaining in the market after being a force in the Net's bench last season. The offensively skilled big man scored 11 points a game with anice average true shooting percentage of .532. Though he is not a lock down defender, he is a great bargain price for a back up big who can score from time to time.
Emeka Okafor - The Former Charlotte big man was absent the entire season due to a serious neck injury. His being injury prone is truly a great concern but it might still be a wise decision to lock him now. Okafor's not going to be suddenly like Dwight Howard when healthy but given the horrible nature of rim protectors in this summer's free agency class, it might be a wise move to secure his services. Okafor is one of the best big men in the league defensively and it wouldn't hurt if you acquire him at a bargain price for a back up role especially if turns out that he will be healthy and extra productive for the rest of the season.
