There is very little time for school in the world of vampires. Apparently Vampire Diaries fan know amidst all the fighting and revenge, hardly any character is shown studying in school or college. But this time Elena is going to return to the classroom in season 6.
According to TV Line, Elena will be heading back to Whitmore College in the upcoming season. This is because of the spell that Markos and the Travelers cast in the season 5 finale that Elena and her friends don't have any choice but to leave Mystic Falls due to the anti-supernatural magic, Whitmore College is the only place left where she is safe to stay.
In the new season, Elena seems to be completely into her education after she faced devastating loss of her lover Damon in the previous season.
Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec told TV Line, Elena will be "actively pursuing a degree in pre-med."
"She's a smart girl, and Elena's father was a doctor, so she's trying to figure out how to help people and save people, just as her family did," Plec told about Elena's new focus in Season 6.
Moreover, Plec said, Season 6 will introduce some "hot young pre-med guys and sexy doctors."
The coming season will introduce some new faces in the series. "Client List" actor Marco James will be playing Liam, an attractive and smart upperclassman med-student who comes from a family of doctors. "Hit the Floor" star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe on the other hand will be playing Jo, a tough and accomplished doctor at the university hospital.
Another actress, Emily Chang will be playing Ivy- typical girl-next-door but with an unexpected wild side. According to TV Guide report, "The Carrie Diaries" actor Chris Wood joins cast as the recurring character named Kai-who is a charmingly unstable newcomer with the unsettling ability to seem normal as the situation demands. He can be both playful and obsessive with a mix of adolescent angst.
The Vampire Diaries season 6 will return on Oct. 2 at 8 pm on CW Network.
