"Terminator 5" Update: New Footage Premiere at Comic Con, Casting Updates: X-Men Star joins cast? [Rumor]

By

Comic-Con has begun, and while every studio is trotting out their major franchises, one film with a curiously small presence is "Terminator 5."

Paramount has spoken very little on if the next "Terminator" film will be at Comic-Con, yet the film is a major release that comes out in just one year- it'd be extremely foolish on Paramount's part not to debut something new (props, plot details, first footage) from the upcoming tentpole sequel.

However, a new report from Variety claims that a surprise "Terminator 5" appearance may be very likely. According to Variety's speculation, the issues with "Terminator" may stem from star Arnold Schwarzenegger having to spend most of his time representing "The Expendables 3," while his co-star Emilia Clarke is doing the same for her HBO series "Game of Thrones."

Still, it's hard to believe that an entire Comic-Con could go by without a single instance of "Terminator 5" news.

Schwarzenegger himself is almost done with his filming for the sequel, according to a rumor that's just popped up online. The rumor claims that Schwarzenegger would be done with "Terminator 5" filming by the end of the month (roughly July 30, according to the rumor). However, it's not clear if he's actually finished in time for Comic-Con, or if the famous bodybuilder-turned-actor is just taking a break for Comic-Con.

If it's the latter, don't expect too much Schwarzenegger presence from the convention.

A new actor has also just been cast in 'Terminator 5." Douglas Smith, who has had previous roles in the "Percy Jackson" and "X-Men" franchises, has just been added to the cast of the next "Terminator." However, it has not been revealed who Smith will be playing. Perhaps that's what we'll find out at this year's Comic-Con.

Stay tuned for more "Terminator 5" news as Comic-Con continues.
