Rumors regarding the Adam Newman recast have been going on for quite a while now but the post for the Young & Restless cast favorite still remains vacant. Talks about Michael Muhney continuing his role are still circulating with news even going as far as spotting the actor on the set of the show.
However, The Examiner spills that Michael Muhney's mother debunked the rumors on Twitter by saying that her son has no plans of returning to the show. Even executive producer Jill Farren Phelps confirms that there is no actor planned to take over the role yet despite fans being shown Adam's hands for weeks. When asked about the status of the recasting, Phelps' answer was short and sweet, mentioning that "It's going."
On the other hand, several actors are already being fan casted by supporters of the show. Among these is Cameron Mathison who was best known for his role as Ryan Lavery on All My Children which ran from 1998 to 2011. According to Enstarz, however, Mathison was quick to deny news of him being given the role in Twitter, saying "There is absolutely NO indication that I am going to Y&R to play Adam Newman. Thanks for all the support tho." Meanwhile, a new Phyllis has recently been recasted with the role given to Gina Tognoni.
In other news, Phelps has recently opened up about the status of the show. GlobalTV spills that Phelps is happy about the Y&R's performance especially after it won 9 Emmys including technical awards and Best Dramatic Series. She shares in Soap Opera Digest, "I think the show is really firing... I am very happy that we are showcasing our veteran actors and the story that allows Melody [Thomas Scott, Nikki], Lauralee [Bell, Christine] and Doug [Davidson, Paul] to shine. They are wonderful actors and they have such a rich history with Y&R."
