As much as Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor wants Kevin Love to stay with the team in an NBA TV interview during a Wolves summer league game last month, via the St. Paul Pioneer Press, everyone knows that its never going to happen. Its no secret that Love want's out and that the Timberwolves have been evaluating which trade scenario for their Star forward would give them equal or more value.
And now the Timberwolves are finally stating the obvious when they recently said that they expect to move the dissatisfied All-Star Power Forward Love in a trade deal around Aug. 23 or Aug. 24, per Charley Walters of Pioneer Press.
"I'm saying it's most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that's what he wants to do," Wolves owner Glen Taylor told the Pioneer Press.
But why August 23 or 24? Well because these are the days when the No.1 overall pick in this year's draft, Andrew Wiggins, will become eligible for trade. The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Wiggins on a rookie contract on July 23, which means that the team has to wait for a full month before they can move him. And LeBron James wants Kevin Love and he always gets what he wants.
The Philadelphia 76ers could also be part of a three team deal for Love. Walters writes:
Cleveland remains the strong bet for Love to join LeBron James. But the Wolves continue to listen to offers from Chicago and Golden State, with Philadelphia expected to be part of a three-team deal.
But what's in it for the 76ers? It surely won't be Wiggins as it is clear that he is the best asset the Timberwolves will have in return for Kevin Love and it would be foolish for them to just give him away to Philadelphia.
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ, there are speculations that the Sixers would acquire Dion Waiters in the trade but that it would be difficult to see 76ers General Manager Sam Hinkie agreeing on taking the discontented guard. Here is what Shorr-Parks has to say:
Waiters has been clear he wants to start next season, a request that doesn't exactly scream team spirit. Bringing Waiters in might help on the court, but you have to wonder what effect it might have on the young Sixers' locker room.
But whether it would be the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, or Philadelphia 76ers, who will take part in the three way deal for Kevin Love, one thing is for sure: Love will surely be saying goodbye to the Minnesota Timberwolves by the end of this month. And so might Andrew Wiggins with the team that drafted him, the Cleveland Cavaliers
