Justin Verlander publicly denies girlfriend Kate Upton's request for a new pet

Kate Upton and boyfriend Justin Verlander seems to have no problem engaging in Public Display of Affection on Twitter and Instagram, as Detroit Tigers' starting pitcher publicly denies the model's request to get a new pet.

The supermodel uploaded on Instagram a photo of her holding a dog, captioned, "Pleaseeeee @justinverlander," which was also shared on Twitter.

But despite the picture being uber-adorable, the baseball player denied Upton's request.

This photo was captioned, "@kateupton If anyone objects raise your hand!" he wrote. "#RileyObjects #jealous #RileyWins."

According to E! Online, Verlander and his ex-girlfriend Emily Yuen adopted this dog when they were in college, and stating that it was "the coolest dog ever." This reddish Heinz 57 mix is named Riley.

Justin Verlander is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). His professional career began when the Detroit Tigers chose him second overall in the 2004 MLB Draft .

According to Business Insider, Verlander and Upton met on the set of an MLB 2k12 ad, and since then, rumors spread about the pair dating. The whispers was finally confirmed by Verlander's grandfather, Richard Verlander in an interview with Celebuzz.. "I heard he has been on dates with a Sports Illustrated girl. I saw a photo - she's beautiful. They make a good looking pair because he's a good looking man too."

Reports stated that Verlander declined Upton's request because Riley doesn't approve of another canine in their household. "We went to the SPCA, and he kept licking our faces," he told Richmond Magazine in 2008. "We've been building a bond with this dog. He's been around since day one. He's experienced everything with me."

Looks like Upton will have a hard time getting a new pet to top the original companion.
